There is a knocking noise coming from my ceiling??

Can anyone help explain this to me? I'm in my room at home right now, just sitting in my bed and ready to go to sleep, when all of a sudden I hear this strange knocking noise coming from beyond my ceiling. It almost sounds like a bed creaking and hitting against the wall, but I doubt something like that would come from in the ceiling. It also kind of sounds like a drum, or a saw blade trying to saw thru wood. The noise is very continuous and hasn't let up once since I started hearing it, but the speed of the noise changes from fast, to slow, to normal pace, to fast again, and so on.

I'm thinking, since it's so cold here and ice has been a problem for us recently, that its the pipes acting up? But I'm not sure, and I would like some other opinions about this phenomenon. Anyone had similar experiences, or perhaps know what it is?

PLEASE DON'T tell me "it's a ghost" or that "your parents are having sex lololol", b/c I KNOW that's not the case, ok? I'm looking for a serious answer here, b/c, frankly, these sounds are creeping me out. :

I am having somewhat the same experience right now where I am working. I am a caregiver and I am taking care of a new patient in his house, during my 1st day working there . I notice that the floor makes creeking sounds like somebody is walking but I just assumed that it is because the house is a bit old, I think 1950s , but then while l am in my room lying on the bed this knocking sounds started like 5 to 10 seconds apart. It started inside the wall going upward then it  goes around the ceiling in a counter clockwise direction and when it completed one rotation ,the knocking on the ceiling started going  to  my direction and stopped just on top of me. I was really freak out, the house has only 0ne floor and I am sure nobody is up there , so I just assumed that maybe its a squirrel or some kind of animal up there. The next day I just started my work and not not minding the creeking sound the floor is making .I am sure there is a logical explanation for that but when I get to bed thats when this knocking sound started again but this time it is only on the ceiling right above me and for almost 3 weeks now it is just making that sound just on the ceiling on top of my bed, so annoyed by it that I started bad mouthing whatever is making that sound. that is when I started experiencing ,waking suddenly at night and I feel that my body is moving but I am still half asleep that I have no control over it. It was really scary that all I can do is pray. then suddenly I would like wake up and just go back to bed, trying not to think about it.I dont really believe much in the paranormal since seeing is believing, but this stuff that I am experiencing is really weird and creeping me out. I started bringing my Bible and reading it out loud .it somehow lessen the knocking but the waking up at night without body control continues. I really dont know what to make of this so I searched the internet and arrived here. I am now just sharing my experience so that maybe somebody can shed some light about this. I am also noticing that I am getting weaker like I am always tired and I am always hungry.
